The vision for Te Whare Maire is
‘He iwi tau ukiuki’
‘It is best to influence children a 100 years before they are born.’
Further interpretation of the whakataukī is concerned with Tūhoe taking ownership and responsibility to develop a Tūhoe life long learning strategy towards the year 3,000. The strategy will inform the future direction for Tūhoe in education and the Whare Maire will play a pivotal role in helping to shape that future.
It is expected that generations born now and in the future will have individual and collective commitment and obligation to learning experiences and relationships from the whare maire and extend this further into the wider community.

- To engage whānau and hapū in the development of the Te Whare Maire ō Tūhoe (TWMOT) strategy
- To devise a questionnaire or survey to collect data/feedback from the relevant stakeholders that will inform the TWMOT strategy
- To provide feedback to all the stakeholders on the findings and recommendations from the report.
These recommendations will also inform the development of Te Whare Maire o Tūhoe strategy.
